HARD AT WORK
|
(aka: Lisa)
The Basics:
WOW....can't believe you actually came to this page instead of going straight for the Duran Duran pictures (admit it, you looked at the pictures first, didn't you?) So you really want to know more about little old me, do you? Well, where do I begin.....I'm a tall gorgeous blonde, 36-24-36....OH GEEZ, I put a photo on this page, didn't I? Ok, the truth is I'm just another Duranie who decided to create a site dedicated to her favorite band.I'm a 33 year old Native of Long Island, NY who fell in love with Duran Duran in the early eighties. I work as a photographer specializing in professional ice hockey (my other love). And if you want to know more than that....there's really something wrong with you! GO LOOK AT THE PICTURES!!!
You're still here? Now I KNOW you must have looked at the photos already. Ok, if you really want the details........
The Duranie:
Growing up in the eighties it was impossible to resist the charms of the Fab 5. As you can see from the photo, I took my Duranieness very seriosly. I first saw them in concert on 4/3/84...the night before my 14th birthday. I was also lucky enough to meet the boys quite a few times over the years.....which is an experience every Duranie should have. I must admit that I did fall out of the loop for a few years as many of us do...college, relatonships, career...but then I came to my senses. I often tell people that being a Duranie is like being an alcoholic. You're never really cured, just on the wagon. And if you fall off, you fall hard. I've seen a ton of shows since my return to the fold in 1999, and was lucky enough to be able to photograph some of them. After each show I felt like I should go home & do my algebra homework. Duran Duran truly is the Fountain Of Youth!
The Photographer:
When I was a kid I used to have posters of hockey players on my walls (before they were replaced by Duran Duran pinups). I used to look at the photo credits at the bottom of the posters & tell people "That's the job I want when I grow up.....I want to take those pictures". When I was in college I started working as a freelancer for several small magazines that covered minor league & college hockey. Now there are posters of Eric Lindros and Jaromir Jagr out there with MY name at the bottom! I have been published in magazines in Sweden, England and Japan...as well as The Hockey News, Hockey Digest, Sport Magazine, Business Week, ESPN Magazine and even Sports Illustrated.
The Hockey Nut:
Being raised on Long Island in the 70's & 80's there was little doubt that I would become an Islanders fan. One day my step-brother came home & put a bumper sticker on his mother's car which read: "This Is Islanders Country" I asked him what an Islander was and he promptly sat me down in front of the TV and put on the game. I was hooked! Several years later the Islanders rewarded me by winning 4 Stanley Cup championships in a row! I've had front row season tickets for over 10 years now, so I'm at every game whether I'm working or not. I am also an avid collector of hockey memorabilia....specializing in autographed sticks & game worn jerseys. Well, that's about it...thanx for sticking around to find out more than you ever wanted to know about me. NOW GO LOOK AT THE PICTURES AGAIN!
